I bought the two camera technique and this camera is Super! Yes you have to run a wire to power it (Duh!). But the signal is sent via 2.4ghz. RF (the wireless part). You can mount the small DVR anywhere that you can get reception. I have mine down in the Den next to my recliner, but, you can move it conveniently if you desire to monitor from, say, the kitchen. The two way "intercom" is good to have!
If you have to have power outage protection, you will want to install a ups power outlet for every camera (use one particular for a laptop and hook the camera supply into the outlet from the ups)
I set up the program and installed 2 cameras in an afternoon without any pressure. It did take a small planning, but, it was honestly straightforward.
It is a lot less expensive than the multi thousand dollar systems. And the pictures (even soon after dark) are spectacular!
I have this up and running for a single month and it is awesome...the picture top quality is good, sound good quality very good, and night vision is fine, I would decide to buy this once more..A+
